positive space
for some reason, i spend a lot of time in my kitchen.
i study at the table in the kitchen, i lean on the counter by the sink in the evening when i eat dinner after class, it seems like i'm forever sweeping up dog hair...
i just really like my kitchen.

i really love a good cup of coffee, too.
sweet and blonde.
(heh... that's got potential somewhere in the world)
and i really love my coffee maker. it's one of those pod type makers that has a bunch of different flavors going on.it's painfully convenient to have too much coffee during the day but very nice to not waste coffee when all i want is usually a cup.
at a time.
and i really love these.
i know i've sent some as gifts in the past and usually when i find something cool, i tend to get me one, too ('cept for the keychain, dammit!).
so - here's mine.
the chef-fairy and the dog-fairy.

the kitchen has a tall, vaulted ceiling which has created a ton of wall space above the cabinets. it's not quite full (at all) but i'm slowly getting it filled up with things i love.
this was the first piece on the wall. i fell in love with it the second i saw it.
the story behind it's acquisition is crazy and due to a major language barrier, i got it for $4.
i'm sure it wasn't much more than that to begin with, as it's nothing spectacularly hand painted or anything, but still quite a nice find.
i also like windows.
if i could live in a glass house, i would.
sitting on top of the tv in the kitchen is a plant i was given three years ago. my dear (-ly departed) friend always gave me plants for gifts. it was a generic sort of thing that he knew i loved very much.
not too long before he passed, we talked about this plant in particular.
i made the comment that i needed to repot it, especially since it was in the same pot it came in. maybe once or twice i threw some compost on the soil but that was about it. he told me to take care of it, just like i would his heart.
and very often, there is some sort of ongoing list on the counter or table.
grocery store, super-center type store, drug store, list of goals for the week......
and every so often, we have to be reminded of things that need attention.
