why won't by cd burner work?

we had to do cpr as a class last night since it will be part of our health care responsibility to be able to administer cpr if ever faced with that situation.
we did adult/child/infant cpr and learned how to use auto defib devices and learned how to assist a choking infant.
we all passed the practical part of the test with flying colors.
and every single one of us failed the written part of the test.

but by the end of the night, we all walked away with our cpr cards good for two years.

i feel like i should have something stellar to say but when it comes to school, all i can think of is how scared i am of catching something once on the job.
and yesterday at the nursing home, i did a one-on-one with a man my age that attempted suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning and failed. his body is all drawn up and contorted in ways i never thought possible. he's totally unresponsive and such a sad case.
what makes it sad is that he's 35 and will probably live another 40 years in this condition - totally unaware of what's going on around him.
even though he's unresponsive, it doesn't mean he can't hear. we did watch a little bit of sports highlights (yes, baseball) and i swear, he tried to smile.
at least, it looked like a smile.
could have been gas though.

i still don't know where i will be placed for the next go-round of clinicals. i do know it's a hospital with labor and delivery - that's why i needed to get a certified background check.
if i catch anything anywhere, it would be in that sort of environment.
gah.

and with it being friday, we are heading up to the woods today.
i need to get the fuck out of here and away from the routine for a bit. not that i will be leaving my books at home, but i won't have to look at the same four walls as i study. i can sit out in the yard, in the quiet, and listen to the wind blow through the pine trees, and the kids play on the slip'n slide.

we ain't got no stinkin pine trees here in suburbia.

peace out, bitches =)

Enjoy the pines!... I live with pines and hard woods all around me, so I don’t need to escape to them... The problem though is making the time to really enjoy them...;-)
